Choosing the appropriate type of analysis at a given time in the product develop-
ment process is a key factor in the effective use of mould flow simulation tools.

FILL

•     Check the feasibility of a moulded part, preferably at
      the preliminary design stage.
•     Determine the number of gates required to fill the
      part within acceptable parameters.
•     Determine knit line positions.

PACK

•     Investigate effect of packing profiles.
•     Verify clamp tonnage.
•     Highlight sinkage problems.

COOL

•     Analyse effectiveness of proposed cooling circuits.
•     Identify hot spots in the mould.
•     Investigate effect of using high conductivity inserts.
•     Verify target cycle times can be achieved.

WARP

•     Predict the final shape of a moulded part. Investigate
the effects of processing parameters and design
      of feed system.
•     Compare with cavity sizes or re-import deflection
model to compare with design size.
•     Use in conjunction with COOL results to investigate
      effects of cooling circuit design.

SHRINK

•     Predict shrinkage values in X,Y and Z axes.

OTHER OPTIONS

•     Gate location analysis
•     Processing window analysis
•     Runner balancing analysis
•     Multi-shot moulding analysis
•     Insert moulding analysis
•     Sequential gating analysis
•     Fibre flow analysis
•     Stress analysis
•     Design of experiments
